The new organization of the JLR lineup has allowed the Discovery Sport to shine, as the model has gained some popularity over the past few years. That is precisely why the British automaker has decided to introduce several updates for 2026, including a new Landmark trim.
The 2026 JLR Discovery Sport has a starting price of $65,460, which is right in line with the segment average. Rather than offering multiple trims that are very similar to one another, the British SUV adopts an à la carte approach. This allows buyers to enjoy a premium and highly personalized experience. As a result, you can select and add the options that suit your preferences. Even when you indulge yourself, it remains fairly difficult to push the price beyond the $75,000 mark, which is something I particularly appreciate about the model.
Competition is undeniably fierce in a segment that includes names such as the Porsche Macan, Audi Q5, and BMW X3. The JLR Discovery Sport may be less popular than most of its rivals, but it remains an excellent choice nonetheless. In fact, I would even say that the British SUV stands somewhat apart from the crowd. It offers a similar size and falls within the same price range as its competitors, but its concept is different, providing significantly more opportunities for adventure.
Competitors: Acura RDX, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Audi Q5, BMW X3, Buick Envision, Cadillac XT5, Genesis GV70, Jaguar F-Pace, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar, Lexus NX, Lincoln Corsair, Maserati Grecale, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Porsche Macan, Volvo XC60
The JLR Discovery Sport does not feature the traditional design language we are accustomed to seeing on Range Rover and Defender models. Nevertheless, it remains a very elegant SUV with a luxurious and prestigious presence.
Its cabin lives up to the brand's reputation. Comfort is outstanding, and the quality of the materials used throughout the interior is impressive. I'm not sure whether it's the design or the brightness, but there is something about JLR's screens that simply cannot be found elsewhere, making the onboard experience particularly enjoyable.
The British SUV offers only one powertrain option, and that is perfectly fine. It features a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 246 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent through a nine-speed automatic transmission, while all-wheel drive comes standard.
What makes the JLR Discovery Sport especially appealing is not only its off-road capability but also its 4,400-pound towing capacity.
The model does not enjoy the strongest reputation when it comes to long-term reliability.
It is one of the few vehicles in its segment to offer a third row of seating. Its off-road capabilities are impressive. Quality is never an afterthought here.
The JLR Discovery Sport is a true luxury vehicle designed for adventure.
The JLR Discovery Sport may be one of the least-known and most underrated vehicles in the entire lineup, which is exactly why you should seriously consider it. It offers a great deal of value for the money.
